WORKSHOP ON VEDIC MATHEMATICS

Vedic Mathematics is a collection of Techniques/Sutras to solve mathematical arithmetics in easy and faster way. It consists of 16 Sutras (Formulae) and 13 sub-sutras (Sub Formulae) which can be used for problems involved in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, conics etc.

Our school has organized the workshop for students of class VIII on Vedic Mathematics on Friday, July 09, 2021. It was conducted by Ms. Vidhi Mangal who is a post graduate in Mathematics from Delhi University, Hansraj College. She has always been a top performer in her academic career. Looking at her keen interest in mathematics, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata invited her to attend a week's workshop which was conducted by Dr. Ram Murti (from Queen's University, Canada), Miss. Gautami (University Dde Lille, Canada) and Mr. Roman Holowinsky (Ohio State University). She was chosen to represent her college in Kolkata.

During her session in our school she explained few interesting tricks of multiplication, for example, like Multiplication with number of nine’s, Unit digit concept and Cube roots. She also taught one mathematical game to find the D.O.B. of any person by following few pre-defined steps. The workshop was very interesting and interactive, students took keen interest and were able to answer the questions by following the rules of Vedic Mathematics taught to them. Vedic Mathematics has its numerous benefits as its faster than normal mathematical calculations, it creates interest for numbers, increases speed and accuracy and it also boosts self confidence.
