WORKSHOP - ODYSSEY OF ELEMENTS
(AUGUST 28 & 29, 2019)
Two days’ workshop for science teachers was organized at National Science Centre, Delhi in order to celebrate International year of the periodic table, named as Odyssey Of Elements.
Two teachers, Sonia Bakshi and Rinki Puri from G D Goenka Public School, Sec-48 Gurugram, participated in the above mentioned workshop.
The United Nations General has declared the year 2019 as International year of periodic table. As a part of celebration, a teachers workshop “Odyssey Of Elements” was organized on 28th and 29th Aug 2019 to acquaint them with existing experiments & develop new popular experiments or projects in chemistry.
Faculty from Hindu college , Delhi threw light on GREEN CHEMISTRY- A solution to environmental issues – an approach to prevent pollution. The experimental demonstrations includes- Preparation of biodiesel from used/ rancid cooking oil, Preparation of silver nanoparticles from tea leaves extract, Briggs- Rauscher reaction- “ The Oscillating Clock”
Faculty of National Science Centre, Delhi demonstrated different experiments which include- Rainblow flame, Bleeding iron, Non burning towel, Black sugar, Copper cloud, Golden rain, Pharaon’s snake, Salt glow on trees, Drinking candle, Lava lamp, Make your own tooth paste, Make cubic soap bubbles, A vinegar & soda fueled rocket, Self inflating balloons, The Briggs- Rauscher reaction etc.
Overall it was a great learning experience for both the faculty members.
