WORKSHOP FOR STAFF ON SCHOOL REOPENING

Being a school with a futuristic and evolving vision, G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurugram, has always entrusted in the merit of preparedness and diligent planning. Adhering to the NEP 2020 and the carefully laid down SOPs by the CBSE prior to the opening of school for the students, a four hour interactive workshop was organised for the staff on October 17, 2020 aptly titled ‘SOPs Of School Reopening’. This was conducted parallelly for Junior wing and Middle & Senior wing teachers along with the entire academic, activity and sports team attending the sessions.
The workshop was divided into three sections -
Section 1- Overview of school reopening norms, guidelines and SOP’s
Session 2-Teachers were assigned into groups of five different committees
Session 3- Presentation by team members of all five committees.
The first session was conducted by Ms. Sonia and Ms. Sarika. They shared the key points of the school reopening rules and guidelines, SOP's and committees to be constituted as per MHRD and CBSE . At the end of the session, reading material, handout with SOP’s and booklets with reference material and guidelines were shared with the team. The school Principal, and the wing Headmistresses also guided the team and gave their valuable inputs and guidance to the entire team.
In the second session, the team members were divided into five groups and each team member was made a member of a committee. The five committees were formed namely, Awareness and Sensitization Committee (ASC), Hygiene and Sanitation Committee (HSC), Medical Emergency Committee (MEC), Mental Health and Wellbeing Committee (MHWBC) and School Protocol Committee (SPC). The teams were given two hours time to read the content shared, brainstorm on the major aspects of the SOPs and prepare a presentation. The headmistress and the coordinators visited the groups and kept guiding each team, trying to ensure the teams are able to bring out the desired results.
The third session was the presentation session where members of each committee were given ten to fifteen minutes time to make a presentation followed by a question and answer session.
This was attended by the entire team along with leadership team. The team not only drew inspiration from the international practices in hybrid learning but also defined the do’s and the don’ts of the SOPs to be strictly made functional before the school reopens, to the SOPs to be diligently mentored after the school reopens.
Principal ma'am appreciated the efforts of the team and guided the team to prepare well for the school reopening. The workshop was a great learning experience as it paved the way forward for the Goenkan team for ensuring the holistic safety of the stakeholders in view.This was followed by a meeting with team leaders to consolidate all the presentation and information on digital platform . As a follow up , next Wednesday and Thursday shall be utilized to complete the follow up work including videos and preparing other areas.
