WORKSHOP BY ACER

A workshop, organized by ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research), was conducted for all the staff members of G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurugram in the school premises on 30th August, 2022 on the topic Creativity and Creative Thinking. Ms. Anuradha Sharma, was the resource person from ACER.

ACER is an independent, not profit organization. The speaker initiated the topic with a TED Talk video, which shared that creativity fosters in inter disciplinary environment. Creativity empowers children to be risk takers in the outside world. Original Thinking, Divergent Thinking and Fluent Thinking, are the three different ways of being creative. The three components of Assessing students Creative Thinking namely- Generation of ideas, Experimentation of ideas and Quality of ideas were discussed elaboratively.

The session took off when all the groups of teachers were actively engaged in brainstorming on a task that incorporated the three components of Assessing Creative Thinking. All the groups prepared and presented a rubric incorporating the three components of Creative Thinking and it was supported by an activity which would fit in the prepared rubrics.

It was truly an enriching session for the entire staff. It has certainly broadened teacher’s horizon to look at Creative Thinking.

This session would surely help teachers to assess student’s creativity accurately.
