WEBINAR ON CAREERS IN R.J/PODCAST AND VOICEOVERS

(OCTOBER 14, 2020)

Mr Sanjeev Kumar, a famous Radio Jockey was the resource person of this webinar. He explained that podcast, to put it simply, is the recorded version of a programme that you can play and hear anytime. Podcasting is a way of distributing audio files via the Internet.

In the beginning, in response to a few queries, Mr Sanjeev expounded that podcasting is emerging as a career much preferred by the youth nowadays. There is a great demand for voice overs and podcasters among the FMs. There will be even more scope for podcasters in the future. Those interested can take up socially relevant issues. In order to succeed in an audio field, the aspirants need to work on their voice modulation and articulation. Most importantly, such careers demand control over emotions and a heightened sense of responsibility. Radio jockeys or broadcasters must know what to say and how to say.  Even if they are unhappy, they cannot let their emotions or moods affect their voice-over and must know how to slip into whatever mood the content in broadcast or podcast requires. Radio or audio field operates on emotions. Chanting of Om in one breath is the best exercise to acquire voice modulation.

The resource person even gave examples of situations which demand a monotone and which merit voice variations. He made it clear that this field relies on auditory and other senses but has no place for eyes. The podcasters have to experience and feel the world around them through their ears and convey it through their voices.

The attendees applauded loudly when he said that FAIL means First Attempt in Learning and urged them to keep trying till they succeed.
