THE GOENKAN MUN

(AUGUST 04 & 05, 2023)

 

G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurugram, organized The Goenkan MUN on August 04 & 05 2023 in the school premises.  The event was an inter school event and participated by 12 schools from the Delhi- NCR region.  There were 280 delegates from all the participating schools. The day one of the conference began with a short inauguration and the release of the newsletter. The committees allotted to the delegates were the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), UN Human Resources Council (UNHRC), the Lok Sabha and the War Cabinets of India and Pakistan respectively. The agenda discussed by the student delegates ranged from the historical and long drawn territorial disputes, sustaining peace protection and protection of civilian rights, the human rights violation of Uyghurs, the appropriateness of putting into effect the AFSPA in the north east parts of India, the discussions on the 1971 Indo-Pak war and the truth of the POK. 

 

The discussions and deliberations on both the days, were strong and logical with the speakers and those opposing them getting into heated discussions.  It was heartening to witness the experiential learning processes of the students from the participating schools. The International Press members, comprising 30 students, be it journalists, photographers or caricaturists, did a laudable work covering the proceedings and supplying accurate reports.

 

The two-day conference concluded with the award ceremony presided by the chief guest, Mr. Majoj Yadav.  Delegates were awarded with Best Delegate, High Commendation or Special Mention Awards. Over all trophy for the best delegation team was bagged by Ryans International School, Gurugram.
