TEACHER TRAINING SESSIONS – PHASE 2 FOR JUNIOR WING TEACHERS AT GDG VASANT KUNJ

(JUNE 19 TO 21, 2024)

Three days workshop was organised separately for the junior wing and middle wing teachers at GDG Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, from June 19 to 21, 2024. The workshop was very informative, motivating and interesting.

During the Day 1 the following topics were discussed - Integrated Approach to Learning Navigating Tomorrow; Key 21st Century Skill by Ms. Reema Motwani that included various domains a teachers should keep in mind while planning for activities, art related activities like Picasso Cubism Art and various other activities which involves gross motor or fine motor skills like rhythmic body percussion games like dumb charades, etc.

Day 2 was all about “Understanding Children” by Ms. Shailja Chauhan. Various domains of development like literacy, cognitive, socio emotional and ethical, physical, aesthetic, cultural and positive learning habits were discussed along with some related activities. During the latter part of the day, session on Learning Centre Approach was conducted by Ms. Meena Khanna. According to this approach, there must be seven corners which a foundational class must have-

·      Exploration zone -sand and water

·      Pretend play-Imagination Centre

·      Art corners

·      Story land- books

·      Sculpting space - clay and dough

·      Building blocks

·      Table top activities-puzzles and toys

The sessions on the Day 3 included enhancing engagement with play way practices in early years by Ms. Kadambari Mattoo and collaborative learning and reflection techniques by Ms. Ritika Kapoor. Various engaging activities and hands on experience related to above topics were the major highlights of the session.

All the sessions planned were very engaging and all the participants were filled with a new zeal to implement their learning.
