STRATEGIES OF CRITICAL THINKING

A Session on Strategies of Critical Thinking was conducted by the junior wing headmistress,

Ms. Harmeet Kaur. The workshop emphasized upon the difference between thinking and critical thinking. It also laid focus on –Why is it important for a teacher to encourage the students to think critically, keeping in mind conceptual understanding rather than rote learning.

The following strategies were discussed:

• CAF (Consider All Factors) for broader decision-making.
• 5 Whys to encourage deeper inquiry-Information Gathering Skills to strengthen research abilities.
• PMI (Plus, Minus, Interesting) to evaluate ideas critically.
• Fishbone Diagram for analyzing causes and effects.

The teachers discussed and planned Fishbone Diagram plan keeping in mind their respective subject and upcoming topics and presented the same at the end of the Session.
