SPEACIAL ASSEMBLY – DIWALI & CHILDREN’S DAY

(NOVEMBER 12, 2020)

The Special Assembly organized GDGPS Sector 48, Gurugram on 12 November, 2020 marked the double celebrations of Children’s Day and Diwali. Keeping the New Normal in mind, the assembly began with an inspiring thought very relevant in the current COVID scenario – ‘By staying safe and keeping the flame of love and hope alive in our hearts, we can soon overcome these challenging times.’ The young students of the Junior Wing highlighted the importance and traditions of the festival through a beautifully worded song ‘Diwali Roshani Wali’. A nukkad-natak presented by the students of Middle Wing was a thought-provoking reality check into the rippling effects of mindless purchase and bursting of crackers. Through forceful dialogues, the young actors showed the impact of fireworks not only on one’s health and environment but also in increasing the spread of the deadly COVID virus. A beautiful dance capsule captured the highlights of the festivals and through vivid movements, the nimble-footed dancers depicted Lord Rama’s epic victory over Ravana and triumphant return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile.

The auspicious lighting of the lamp ceremony in the artistically decorated school reception area by the school principal, Ms. Anuradha Handa, the Head-Mistresses and other staff members held promise of better times when the school life will be restored to its normal routine. In her speech, Ms. Anuradha Handa congratulated the students on learning self-restraint and practicing it in their lives. She urged the children to remain happy in all situations and remain safe while enjoying the celebrations with their families and friends.

The teachers took over the second part of the celebrations. A self-composed poem and messages shared by a few staff members reminded everyone about the importance of educating children. A graceful dance capsule, audio show and loving speeches by the teachers of all the three Wings made Children’s Day celebrations lively and loving for the children.

More moments of fun and celebrations continued in the individual online classrooms when the students played games and watched specially prepared videos with their teachers.
