SESSION - MANAGING STRESS

(JULY 20-24, 2020)

Stress is a very commonly used word. Even when we are not aware of what it actually means, we happen to use the term loosely. Especially when it comes to young learners for whom this word shouldn’t be a part of their dictionary.

The IDM session with the students of classes IX and X primarily aimed at educating the audience about the terminology and the types related to stress, its causes and effects and how one should identify symptoms. Students were encouraged to have an open discussion about the causes of stress and what gives them stress. They were guided to understand the difference between the Eustress and Distress. They were also informed about the biology of stress and how the body reacts to a stressful situation.

Students felt relieved after sharing their causes of stress and discussing the matters that concern them the most. Effective coping mechanisms were shared and discussed. This session was the need of the hour as knowingly and unknowingly, everyone is feeling pressured about something or the other.

The session showed the light at the end of the tunnel to students, which gave them hope and support to talk about it, which could further lead to corrective action.
