ONLINE COURSE-SPACE TECHNOLOGY AND ITS APPLICATIONS

(MAY 31 TO 04 , 2021)

Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dept. Of Space, ISRO Dehradun organised an Online course for School teachers on “Space Technology and its Applications” from May 31 to June 04, 2021 with sessions from 11-1 pm and then 4-6 pm on their E-Portal. Around 7000 Science and Geography teachers from India and neighbouring countries participated in this course. From GDGPS Sector 48, Gurgaon, Ms.Tanya Gera attended the course.

The course was organised to ignite the imagination and spread the awareness among the teachers involved with young children giving the school teachers an overview of how the space technology is being used for the benefit of the common man as well as what are the recent advances so that they can kindle that excitement and curiosity to the young students.

Directors and esteemed scientists of various centres of ISRO took the sessions. Overview of Space Technology & Indian Space Programme, Satellite communication & Navigation technology, Astronomy and space science, Space Infrastructure and data products for meteorological studies, Use of satellite data products in operational weather services,Planetary Geoscience , Satellite based Earth observations & Remote Sensing Technology, Reading Satellite Imageries for information Extraction, Applications of Geospatial technology in Governance, Geodata access from online data repositories and problem solving using GIS was given during the various sessions.

Each session was followed by a Q & A session. Overall, it was an enriching experience and honour to listen to the esteemed dignitaries. Teachers were suggested to visit their website on a regular basis for more information on upcoming courses.
