NAVIGATING SCIENCE- THE CBSE WAY

Exploring the vibrational field of the subject of Physics, resource persons Dr Urvashi Raina and Ms Kawalmeet Reen conducted a live interactive session for 2 hours attended by all the teachers of G D Goenka schools all over the country on 22 April 2024. Around 90 teachers, from various Goenkan schools,  attended this workshop.

Arming the attendees with the expertise of tools to make the subject functional, Ms Kawalmeet Reen talked about the importance of lesson planning, learning objectives and developing scientific temperament in the students. Dr Urvashi Raina focussed mainly on the teaching of Physics in senior secondary classes, discussion on understanding latest question papers, common mistakes made by CBSE and the recurrent issue of students failing to write units. The interactive session focussed on learning and unlearning pedagogical processes, roller coaster changes in CBSE syllabus, namely DO-UNDO-REDO, discussion on understanding the latest pattern of the question papers, including assertion-reasoning questions, competency based questions, 50% case-based study questions, MCQ, short answer type questions and long answer type questions.

The common mistakes by students were discussed and measures derived to avoid the errors. The diluting of the learning outcomes in students due to the smaller number of derivations in grade 12 was also a topic of deliberation.  This interactive session ended with a Q&A session, where all the participants pooled in their thoughts and take-aways. Overall, the session was very enlightening and informative.
