LOHRI CELEBRATIONS

JANUARY 13, 2022

Festivals and celebrations are part of India’s rich culture and tradition. Lohri is one of them which is unique in its perception and significance. Lohri, a popular folk festival of North India, commemorates the passing of the winter solstice and the beginning of longer days. It is a festival of unity, brotherhood, love and harmony.

An interactive session about this beautiful festival was held with the Primary wing learners at GDGPS on the virtual platform and they thoroughly enjoyed it. They also watched a story on Lohri, made beautiful crafts and danced to the beats of the dhol.

Students were dressed in traditional Punjabi attire and relished some traditional Lohri delicacies like groundnuts, rewri, gajak and popcorn. It was a fun-filled day for the little ones that left everyone with a feeling of joy and love.
