LIFE SKILLS SESSION-CLASS IX
(FEBRUARY 05, 2021)
IDM is a unique programme of G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurugram which creates opportunities for holistic learning and growth. Life skills training is an integral and important component of this programme which empowers young learners to deal with challenges of life in an efficient manner.
As part of Life Skills Education, students of grade IX attended a session on interpersonal skills. The school cinema movie ‘RUN’ was screened. The film tells the tale of a Samoan brother and sister from New Zealand. The siblings stick together through challenges. Their team work finally works wonders and they learn the important lesson of standing up for each other.
The session was followed by a discussion about common emotions felt by the characters of the movie. The students were encouraged to analyse the situation the siblings were in when they were asked to choose the challenge, they thought was tougher to overcome. The students were guided to learn to stand up for Each Other and take a stand when faced with inequality, struggle, suppression and bullying. Adolescents, being the future need to develop the courage to speak their minds and stand up for what they believe in. Students were deeply touched by the movie and felt inspired.
