“The illiterate of the 21st century, will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.” – Alvin Toffler

GDGPS Sector 48 believes in excellence and innovation. As one of the ten leading schools of Gurgaon, GDGPS has always been ahead of times in all its endeavours. Keeping up with the changing times, the school has come up with a virtual newsletter this time. The newsletter and the thought behind it was presented to the entire school on 10 October 2020 through the school’s YouTube channel, Goenkan Nest.

The programme was anchored by Ms Neha Verma, the Admission In-charge. She began with talking about the need for reflection in every person’s life. Ms Neha focussed on how the first volume was all about having the courage to dream and then the conviction to work on that dream. The Middle Wing Headmistress, Ms Shalini Tandon, spoke about the joy of dreaming big and following it up with honest hard work. She gave the example of ‘Pratibimb’ which started off as a small programme but later encompassed the entire school. Ms Neha also invited Ms Sonia Jagga, the school’s Events Co-ordinator to speak about the journey of creating the newsletter. Ms Sonia talked about the huge team effort that was required to come up with something as spectacular as the Goenkan Newsletter. She said that it had started as just one newsletter but later became two as there was much to talk about.

Ms Neha then invited the Junior Wing Headmistress, Ms Srishti Bajaj, to decode the methods of the new programmes started by GDGPS, Sector 48. Ms Srishti explained in details about the methods and pedagogy of the latest techniques. She said capacity building for teachers was imperative as only empowered and enthused teachers could create great learners. Ms Neha then asked the Academic Co-ordinator, Ms Ritesh Sharma, to speak about assessments in the new scheme of things. Ms Ritesh envisioned assessments that would not test content knowledge, but application of the knowledge gained through the content. The programme concluded with the Principal, Ms Anuradha Handa, talking about how important it was to align one’s vision with the world. She mentioned programmes that she had attended which convinced her that capacity building for teachers and a new vision of education was the 21st century approach. She also invited the school’s Graphics Designer, Ms Akansha, to speak a few words about her journey at GDGPS, Sector 48.
