IDM SESSION WITH MAJOR MOHIT SRIVASTAVA

G D Goenka Public School. Sector 48, Gurgaon invited Major Mohit Srivastava as the speaker for IDM session with the students of classes IX and X, held on Friday, August 14, 2020. Major Mohit Srivastava is an alumnus from Army Public School and BITS and an officer passed out from Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.Major Mohit is a Commando as well and has served in Assam, West Bengal, Bhutan etc.

Major Mohit gave a comprehensive presentation about career opportunities in Indian Defence, especially focusing upon Indian Army. He inspired students by sharing his life journey, where he had no idea what his career was like and how he chose to serve in the Indian Army. 

He gave a detailed account of what students need to do to be part of Indian Military Services. He shared for each kind of job/work opportunity what are the possible ways of entring IMA. Students got a clear insight and a roadmap about what stream they need to choose, what kind of opportunities they can explore after class 12th  and for many others they will get opportunity after graduation. He introduced students to different ranks as well and how the promotion happens.

The session further was made interactive where students wholehearltedly participated and clarified all their doubts and apprehensions. Some of the intriguing questions were “What is the stress level?”, “What work do you do in the army?”,  “What is it like to move houses often?”, “What is the work of military engineer” and many others.

The session was quite an eye opener for everyone, where students were exposed a field which is accessible and achievable and is not only a distant dream.
