DUSSEHRA ASSEMBLY

(OCTOBER 23, 2020)

G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurugram held an online assembly to celebrate the festival of Dussehra on October 23, 2020. All the students of the three wings of the school participated in this assembly, making it an occasion to remember, to inspire the feelings of self discipline, dedication, love and kindness amongst all the viewers.

The assembly, which started with the thought of the day, national and international news, coupled with the weather report, went on to explain the dormant energies within us.  Deftly compered by students of Class XI, the assembly steered the viewers through the gamut of energies represented by the incarnations of Goddess Durga, which are worshipped during the nine days of this festival.  An adorable dramatic presentation of the Ramayana was also assayed by the junior students of the school, interspersed with messages and the values of the Goddess Durga in her various forms, represented by the students of the middle school.

The school Principal, Ms. Anuradha Handa, in her address to the audience, said that while each character of the Ramayana taught us a strong value, each day of the nine days was worshipped as a different form of energy.  She urged the young audience to awaken these very energies in their own selves and fight those very elements which hinder the progress of self.  Her address also included a word of caution against the Coronavirus, asking the viewers to practice the safety norms as the pandemic was yet to be defeated, including wearing of the mask, continued hand hygiene and maintaining the distance. Ms. Handa ended her speech by reiterating to her young audience to handle the freedom of scaled down curbs with caution and control, wishing good health to everyone on the occasion of the festival.

The Assembly was much appreciated by all.
