COOPERATIVE LEARNING

Under the able guidance of the school principal Ms Anuradha Handa, all the staff members of G D Goenka Public School Sec-48, Gurugram collectively went under a capacity building workshop on Cooperative learning. The session was exclusively conducted by the school principal Ms Anuradha Handa whereby teachers were made to revisit and reflect upon the “Cooperative Learning as a part of Cooperative Behaviour.”

The session focused on the ways and need to develop a certain attitude in children, life skills and more. The key words “Cooperative Learning and Cooperative Behaviour” were understood and instilled upon. The session further included examples of Cooperative Behaviour in Plants, School, Students, Staff, Parents, Management, Directorate and Collaboration with Schools. It further expanded to - Positive Interdependence, Individual Accountability, Group Processing (Reflections in the end) and Promotive Interaction - Face-to-Face (Promotive) Interaction: Important cognitive activities and interpersonal dynamics only occur when students promote each other's learning.

The school principal further took the staff through Cooperative Learning Techniques like Think Pair Share, Jigsaw, Rally Table, STAD – Student Team Achievement Division, Inside Outside Circle and TGT. The session culminated by discussing exemplar of Grade XIth – Political Science. Further revisiting ‘The Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle’ and how to enrich the learners with all the 4 stages of ‘The Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle’ for a complete experience.
