CONNECT 2019
(JUNE 29, 2019)
Connect is much more than a unique initiative; it is a way of life at GDGPS. It is a part of the school culture that celebrates and thrives on its strong connections with all the stakeholders – its students, parents and faculty. It is the school management’s special acknowledgement of the pivotal role played by the families and spouses of their teachers that gives CONNECT its special dimensions, dynamics and soul. Through Connect, conceptualized in the first year of school’s inception, the school celebrates, confirms and cherishes the connection between the Goenkan fraternity and the families of the entire staff. Connect 2019 although differently organized this year had something in common with the Connect Celebrations of the previous years i.e the management and principal’s emotional investment in each and every member of the school and their families.
This emotional connection was in full evidence when all the teachers and their families were smilingly greeted by the principal and the Incharges in the aesthetically decorated reception. An engaging session awaited the teachers in the auditorium. The anchors for the evening, Ms. Shoma Roy, Ms. Ojasvita Handa and Ms. Shalu Chopra added a touch of playfulness, a pinch of humour and loads of emotiveness to their compering and the programme. They made the families of their colleagues feel doubly at home when they asked them to share their feelings about their mothers/fathers being a part of the GDGPS family. A short video had captured some special moments when the dear ones of the teachers spoke lovingly about them. A short video showcasing the teachers’ engagement and highlighting their contribution to key aspects of school in the two-days workshop titled ‘Swayam se Vyayam Ke Ore’ was shared with the audience. An enthralling dance performance was enjoyed by all.
The school Principal, Ms. Anuradha Handa was at her spontaneous best when she thanked her husband and shared how he had always whole-heartedly encouraged giving her 100% and more to whatever she did. She attributed her success to her spouse and daughter’s role and presence in her life.
The teachers accompanied by their spouses and other family members were escorted to the studios where a surprise package of games, fun activities and interactive exchanges were planned by the teacher in charges. Families mingled with another and had fun in answering questions like name your spouse’s favourite colour, cuisine, song etc. Everyone joined in when husbands sang for their wives or vice-versa. Apart from singing and dancing, there was plenty of bonding time activities like ‘pass through the hoopla’, ‘ball over the heads’ etc. Teachers, their children, spouses, parents, in-laws all bonded closely amongst themselves as they cheered for one another, pitted their teams against one another or out-sang/out-danced one another.
After that, the principal and incharges mingled with the staff and their families over a sumptuous dinner, thus creating a fresh repository of moments of togetherness.
