CBSE WEBINAR – SUPERVISION SKILLS FOR MIDDLE MANAGEMENT

An online session on Supervision Skills for Middle Management was organized by the COE Delhi (East) on 02 Mar 2021 on the Google Meet platform. The resource person was Ms Anuradha Handa, Principal G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48 Gurugram. The session was attended by educators and teachers from schools of Delhi NCR as well as those from other states.

Ms Handa assessed the expectations of the audience by ascertaining their position in their respective schools and their aspirations besides their expected takeaways from the webinar. This ensured participation from all attendees as each segment had assured takeaways.

Ms Handa explained the role of middle management in the scheme of teaching to all the attendees to drive home the point that they are the enablers of the conversion from vision to mission. The role of the middle management cannot be over emphasized in areas such as pedagogical plan development, establishing the channels of communication and feedback, align flexible plans with the vision in aim and ensure that a fair reporting system exists across all levels of the school.

These aims and roles could be fulfilled if the middle management was aware of the strengths, limitations and capabilities of each member of their team in equal measure as the mission and vision. This would enable them to complement each other and ensure a team effort towards goal achievement. The middle management empowers both, their superiors and their juniors by complimenting their strengths. Driven by a clear sense of purpose they set SMART goals that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timebound goals.

The session was well received by the audience as Ms Handa drew from her extensive experience across the entire range of teaching hierarchy. She highlighted that the middle management had dual responsibilities; that of teaching and that of upholding the high standards that senior management sets for the school.
