CBSE WEBINAR - LEARNING FROM MISTAKES

(JANUARY 21, 2021)

An online session on “Learning from Mistakes” was organised by the COE Delhi (East) on January 21, 2021 through Google Meet. The resource person was Ms Anuradha Handa, Principal of G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurgaon. The session was attended by educators and teachers from across all schools of Delhi and NCR.

Ms Handa spoke articulately on the mistakes and defined it as the decision or action that we come to regret. Mistakes usually cause some degree of pain, loss or struggle. Further she explained its types and reasons and the difference between making a mistake and committing a mistake. She also emphasized on the life essential qualities.

Ms Handa spoke in length about the different negative feelings which overshadow us after committing mistakes and how to overcome them as nobody is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. We all know these truths, but feelings of guilt, regret, and shame over a mistake can linger and cause pain anyway. She enumerated self-forgiveness is often the most difficult type of forgiveness. Whether your mistake is minor or major, it is essential for your well-being (and that of those around you) that you accept and move on from your error. Always remember failures are the stepping stones to success. It is from those mistakes which makes us a better person and strives hard to reach our dream destination.

This was followed by the different video clippings of handling the same situation in three different ways and analyzing the correct way of solving a problem. She further quoted the real-life experience of one of his students focusing on why it’s important to share your mistake. This session was an important learning opportunity for all who designed and facilitated it as well as for those who participated in it. The session was very informative and interactive with lively interactions between the resource person and the attendees.
