CBSE CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM ON ACTIVE LEARNING

(APRIL 10, 2025)

On April 10, 2025, a dynamic CBSE Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Active Learning was conducted for the teachers of GD Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurugram under the guidance of the school’s esteemed Principal, Mrs. Anuradha Handa. The session was facilitated by experienced CBSE resource persons Dr. Meenakshi Narula and Mrs. Rajni Ashat, who adeptly engaged participants in rethinking classroom strategies to foster greater student engagement and ownership of learning.

The workshop introduced the concept of Active Learning as a shift from teacher-led instruction to student-centered exploration, emphasizing interaction, reflection, collaboration, and critical thinking. Teachers actively participated in a series of thoughtfully designed activities, including case studies, think-pair-share, role-play, concept mapping, and gallery walks. Through the ALAP (Active Learning Activity Plan) model, educators practiced aligning classroom activities with clearly defined learning outcomes and 21st-century skills.

The interactive format of the session, combined with real-time feedback and peer demonstrations, provided valuable insights into transforming traditional teaching into a more vibrant, engaging, and meaningful experience for learners. The day concluded with reflective discussions and a renewed commitment by all participants to implement active learning strategies in their classrooms.

The initiative by CBSE to train teachers on such an engaging topic provided a valuable platform for equipping educators with innovative, practical strategies aimed at boosting student engagement, fostering critical thinking, and promoting meaningful participation in the classroom.
