ANNUAL DAY; MIDDLE AND SENIOR WING

(OCTOBER 05 & 07, 2023)

The Annual Day celebrations of G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48 are an amalgamation of every aspect of school life, bringing together intellect, wisdom, creativity and beauty of the learning process of Goenkans; an unparalleled platform for vertical interactions among students; with themes reflecting the rich cultural heritage of our country.

While the school was engaged in conceptualizing MAHAAN BHARAT as this year’s annual day theme, quite astonishingly, the country too was aligning itself with this theme towards the G 20 summit. As India enlightened the world with its rich history steeped in wisdom, GDGPS Sector 48 strengthened its belief that Bharat shall hold the title of ‘Mahaan’ only when our children are carved into holistic beings, capable of leading the world towards peace, prosperity, and sustainability, drawing forth wisdom from the rich cultural heritage of Bharat.

Our country Bharat encapsulates an inherently luminous entity adorned with the radiance of Dharma, love, compassion, unwavering principles, unity, diversity, virtuous devotion, and human values. The evolutionary odyssey of our venerable Bharat has meandered through the intricate twists and challenges of the Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga, fortified by the timeless wisdom of the Vedas and Upanishads. Each Yuga bestowed luminaries such as Narsimha, Matsya, Lord Rama, Parshurama, Lord Krishna, luminaries in the fields of science and statecraft, including Aryabhata, Charak, Chanakya, and Chandragupta Maurya, bequeathing to the world the concept of Zero, the Pythagorean Theorem, Ayurveda, and more.

Students of GDGPS Sec 48 took the audience through this rich history of our venerated Bharat. Their confident creative presentation, filled with conviction, pride, passion and humility, reached out to everyone’s heart and left them spellbound.

The creatively installed exhibition themed ‘Values and Disposition’ explored Bharat’s rich history, tracing its evolution across centuries, and reflecting its diversity and transformation, with developments in the field of technology beautifully displayed through sections showcasing Augmented Reality, Aditya L – the first space based Indian mission to study the sun, model of Chandrayaan 3 and a Digital Photo Booth where one could get clicked as if on the Moon!

In his address, Chairman Mr Vipul Garg expressed his belief that education is not simply a means to an end; and that the prime purpose of education is the lifelong happiness of learners. Principal Ms Anuradha Handa shared the profound thought and philosophy behind the school programs and how GDGPS Sec 48 is raising the next generation as able inheritors of our country’s rich legacy.
