AIL PRESENTATION - OUR MOTHER EARTH

(21 FEBRUARY 2020)

"Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads" - Henry David Thoreau

Art integrated learning undoubtedly holds the numero uno position out of all the routine learning activities in a school. It hones the skills of children, makes interest and makes importance as there is no substitute for the beauty and force of its beauty. Art integrated learning trains the mind through the eyes, and the eyes through the mind. This year, the year-end class presentation was unique as the Goenkans of class III took the lead to present what they learnt in their scholastic and co-scholastic areas through multiple forms of art - music, dance and theatre on the theme PRITHVI  OUR MOTHER EARTH, which made their art integrated learning a joyful experience. The theme was sensitively taken up by the younger ones to give a strong message that the earth doesn’t really need people, but the people need it, our future depends on it. The oceans, the soil, the flowing streams and the forests; they all can take us or leave us but we can’t live without them.

Following the tradition, the presentation started with the lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana followed by the message by the esteemed Principal; Ms. Anuradha Handa and respected Headmistress of the Middle Wing; Ms. Shalini Tandon, who aim to provide a supportive, professional, skilled and a creative environment so that all the students can grow together, support each other, share their achievements and work towards realizing their dreams. The main production started with a Sanskrit shloka explaining the importance of five elements in creation of this universe and their role in existence of life on the earth followed by its significance by means of Yoga. What we stand for is what we stand on; our mother Earth....the one thing we all have in common. The eloquent Goenkans fascinated everyone with their nukkad natak depicting the pain of our mother Earth. The students, through their dance performance, conveyed a beautiful message to the audience that clean air is a prerequisite of our life and one of the ideals we must follow. Also, our actions will determine our fate. The tiny ambassadors also came forward with a great solution to restore our green cover. Planting more trees that not only give us oxygen but also absorb carbon dioxide. If each one of us can inspire at least two people to grow a tree and they further inspire two more and so on. The trees will multiply and restore the green cover of our Earth.  They took a pledge to grow more trees and inspire others to do so.

Just like the mother earth showers all her unconditional love through the various resources, similarly the grandparents always pamper us with their everlasting love and affection. The assembly came to its finale with the students delivering a vote of thanks to their grandparents. They acknowledged the efforts of our grandparents as the real green ambassadors of nature by making them wear the virtual crown and reciting a special poem for them

That was indeed heart touching!

Hope and Pride, pure joy inside

Warm hugs and kisses, shooting star wishes

Tickles & fun, a sprinkle of sun

Hands to hold, hearts of gold

That’s what grandparents are made of.
