ACER IBT WORKSHOP- READING COMPREHENSION

G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, aims to constantly enhance and update the teaching practices and techniques to meet the evolving standards of education and career building. An interactive training session was conducted by the ACER IBT team, for the English department on August 12, 2023 to orient the teachers about the Reading Comprehension skills.

The session began with an amazing introduction of all teachers through an Adjective name game. Post introduction, the resource person got a deeper understanding of the reading comprehension strategies used currently in different grades. Teachers were given different case studies at different grade levels. Teachers performed numerous activities to get hands-on experience of how a reading comprehension is to be taken up with the students. Creating a mind map enhanced the reading comprehension skill in a magical way. Teachers were guided to build questions based on retrieve, infer, interpret and reflect information from the given text. Based on the activities, a lot of discussions and brainstorming took place in the room.

Overall the training was quite beneficial and was well organized by the ACER IBT team. It was a well -structured plan that provided a roadmap for teachers to structure their reading comprehension lessons effectively, provide students with the resources they need, and create an environment conducive to learning.
