DEVELOPING ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR SUCCESS

A virtual capacity-building session titled “Business Studies: Developing Essential Skills for Success” was conducted for Business Studies teachers of Classes XI and XII on Sept 27, 2025. The resource persons, Ms. Neeru Sethi and Ms. Amrita, led the workshop with clarity, practical insights, and a strong focus on strengthening pedagogical effectiveness.

The session aimed to deepen teachers’ understanding of Business Studies by shifting focus from content coverage to skill development and competency-based teaching. It highlighted how Business Studies can be taught in a way that equips learners with analytical thinking, decision-making, communication, and real-life application skills.

One of the major components discussed was Syllabus and Curriculum Mapping, where teachers were guided on aligning learning outcomes with classroom delivery. Board Question Paper Analysis was presented through detailed examples that helped in understanding trends, question typologies, and preparation strategies. The resource persons also explained Common Student Errors, sharing practical remediation techniques to enhance student performance.

A significant part of the session addressed methods for Simplifying Challenging Chapters using flowcharts, mind maps, worksheets, and case-based discussions. The importance of Internal Assessment and Rubric-Based Evaluation was emphasised to ensure fairness, transparency, and competency alignment. The workshop ended with strategies for Student Guidance and Subject Promotion, highlighting ways to motivate learners and strengthen their interest in Business Studies.

Overall, the session was informative, structured, and highly relevant to classroom practice, offering actionable strategies to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
