ANVESHIKA PHYSICS BHARAT YATRA
(AUGUST 13, 2025)
“The essence of science education lies not in rote learning, but in experiencing the joy of discovery.”
GD Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurugram, had the honour of hosting the Anveshika Physics Bharat Yatra (APBY) on August 13, 2025. While the APBY is a nationwide initiative promoting the “Joy of Physics”, at GDGPS, Sector 48 the programme took a special dimension, reflecting the school’s vision of combining academic excellence with social outreach.
True to its ethos of holistic education, GDGPS, Sector 48 invited students of Grades VI to VIII from Shiksha Education Centre to participate in the programme. Shikha Education Centre run by Shiksha Trust, provides free education and vocational training to underprivileged children and youth. This outreach ensured that young learners from diverse backgrounds were exposed to hands-on experiments, interactive demonstrations, and innovative learning experiences in physics. The initiative not only enlightened them about scientific concepts but also gave them a platform to engage with advanced technology and explore the subject beyond the classroom.
The programme at GDGPS was led by Founder Principal Ms. Anuradha Handa and Headmistress Ms. Shikha Sharma, supported by the Physics faculty and enthusiastic student volunteers. Sessions included an engaging shadow theatre activity and laboratory-based experiments using the Science Activity Kit. These experiences bridged the gap between theory and practice while fostering curiosity, teamwork, and leadership among participants. The involvement of student volunteers highlighted the spirit of teamwork and leadership that GD Goenka nurtures, while the resource team ensured that each activity connected theory with real-life applications.
