UNIVERSITY READINESS - INDIA AND ABROAD

A career counselling session was conducted by G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurugram for the students of classes XI & XII on 12 May, 2021. The session was primarily held to introduce the students to the opportunities at the graduation level abroad. Dr.Dipti Yadav, the school counsellor initiated the session while  the students of  class XII  welcomed the guests,                             two education  counsellors - Mr. Abhishek Gupta and Ms. Anjali Anand.

Mr. Gupta explained the difference between the universities in India and abroad, making clear comparison between their functionality, subject choices, internships, placements etc.  Also, he compared traditional courses versus the liberal courses and cautioned the students to choose very carefully. Ms. Anand- a representative of HURON University, Canada, explained the processes required to gain admission into Canadian universities, stating that while academics were an important part of the process, a variety of the extracurricular activities also would hold a lot of importance in the process of admission.

The variety of examinations required by the student for the admissions like SAT, IELTS or AP, were also explained in detail by both the speakers of the session. The Q & A session was well handled by the speakers, answering questions ranging from courses in Astrophysics to Mass Communication, Aeronautical Engineering, English Literature, Film Making etc. 

The school principal, Ms. Anuradha Handa, closed the session urging the students to start gathering information, grabbing internships and participating in extracurricular activities. She thanked the guests for having taken time to address the session.
