REPORT OF BIOLOGY WORKSHOP
(AUGUST 18, 2023)
A biology workshop - “GENETIC ENGIMA” was held online on August 18, 2023 through zoom meeting for all the Biology Teachers of Grade-XII. Around 60 teachers all PGT Biology of G D Goenka Public School across India joined. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Neeta Rastogi and Bharati Sharma, Sr. Director (Academics), G D Goenka Group of Schools.
Topics highlighted in the workshop were:

2 | How to prepare an effective question paper in exams.

3 | How to frame Case Study based questions from research papers available online.
|
4 | What questions must be rejected and eliminated from the question paper.
|
5 | Need of Biotechnology labs along with Biology labs in schools in near future.

6 | Introduction and implementation of virtual biotechnology labs in teaching methodology to make our explanation more effective.
|
7 | How to explain DNA Fingerprinting, PCR, Electrophoresis, etc. techniques effectively in class. |
8 | Framing of questions from real/original data based on covid and other diseases.

The workshop enabled the participants to have a deeper look at concepts of teaching methodology of Biology through demonstrations and challenging questions and to share the excitement and joy of learning together. The workshop highlighted many misconceptions and few points to be focused while teaching Grade-XII Biology through simple demonstrations of difficult concepts and virtual labs.
This was all followed by a Question/Answer and doubt clearing session. Overall, it was an enriching experience.
