NEST MAKING WORKSHOP
(JULY 25, 2025)
An engaging session was conducted at GD Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurugram for the students of grade VII and VIII, to empower them to take meaningful action for environmental conservation and deepen their connection with nature. This session was led by Mr Rakesh Khatri, an environmentalist and founder of Eco Roots Foundation, who is well known for saving sparrows by having made thousands of nests so far, also known as the nest man of India.
Mr. Khatri spoke about the importance of bird conservation, sustainable living and significance of biodiversity. He sensitized the young minds about the habitat of birds and their migration due to the rapid expansion of cities. He exhibited various kinds of nests made from waste material, tetra packs and organic material.
Students were divided into groups and provided with eco-friendly nest-making kits. Under Mr. Khatri’s expert guidance, each group built their own bird nests, which were then installed around the school premises to support local bird populations. The students gained practical knowledge about sustainable practices. This creative conservation activity also fostered teamwork and craftsmanship through hands-on experience.
