NAVIGATING ADOLESCENCE WITH AWARENESS AND CONFIDENCE
(NOVEMBER 13, 2024)
‘Understanding Change is the First Step to Growing Up’
The journey of growing up is both exciting and challenging, marked by significant physical, emotional, and psychological changes. To guide students through this transformative phase, G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, organised separate sessions on puberty and adolescence for boys and girls of Classes VI and VII on November 13, 2024.
The session for boys, titled "Growing Up and Puberty: A Guide for Boys," was conducted in the E-Wing Basement by the School Doctor, Ms. Soumya; Science Teacher, Ms. Meenakshi Singh; and Counselor, Ms. Kristna. It covered topics such as physical development, hormonal changes, hygiene practices and managing emotions. The interactive discussion encouraged open dialogue in a safe and supportive environment, helping students embrace these changes with confidence and positivity.
Meanwhile, the session for girls, conducted in collaboration with Pee Safe and Go Sharpener, focused on "Puberty and Menstrual Hygiene." Students were educated on menstruation, sustainable hygiene practices and the importance of breaking stigmas. This initiative empowered them to make informed choices and fostered a supportive approach to menstrual health.
The interactive nature of the sessions, conducted in a safe and confidential environment, encouraged students to voice their concerns and seek clarity. It successfully instilled confidence and awareness, helping them embrace the changes positively.
Both sessions embodied the school's commitment to progressive education, emphasising the value of informed decision-making and self-awareness. By sparking thoughtful conversations, these initiatives left a meaningful impact on young minds, equipping them to navigate adolescence with confidence and grace.
