INDEPENDENCE DAY ASSEMBLY

(AUGUST 13, 2021)

Class XI students of G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurgaon, had the unique opportunity of organising an online assembly entirely by themselves on the occasion of the Independence Day on August 13, 2021 for the students of middle & senior wing.

The main theme of the assembly was “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava”; to remember all those patriots who had fought very hard for the independence of the country and to pay tribute to all those martyrs, be it the general public or the heroic soldier, who had, on various demanding occasions, lay down their lives for the country.

The entire presentation saw the physical flag hoisting in the premises of the school, followed by a short programme with class XI & XII students being present in the school that day.  The school Principal, Mrs Anuradha Handa, welcomed the children back into the premises of the school, after being on the online mode for the entire last on account of COVID lockdown. She also lay stress on the fact that we are all bound to do our duties towards our motherland along with the duties of being a student.

The pride and the conviction shown by the guest speaker, retired Col. Deepak, Veer Chakra awardee and who had fought in the Kargil war, was noteworthy. The theatre group presented a theatre cum dance show wherein the famous freedom fighters were remembered and tributes paid, urging the young generation to do their bit for the country.

The assembly ended on a high note with a dance performance on the song Jai Ho!, reiterated through the speech of Ms. Shalini Tandon, Headmisstress, in the vote of thanks.  She too urged the students to remain steadfast in their duties and responsibilities towards the country as well as self.
