FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE WITH CIRCULAR THINKING
(MAY 22, 2025)
A workshop on “Fighting Climate Change with Circular Thinking” was conducted on May 22 for students of Classes VI to VIII by the International Council of Circular Economy. The one-hour session aimed to raise awareness about climate change and the role of circular thinking in addressing environmental challenges.
The workshop began with an engaging discussion on what climate change is and its major causes. Students learned about the top three greenhouse gases—carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide—and their impact on global warming. The session also emphasized the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how they guide global efforts toward a more sustainable future. A significant part of the workshop was the comparison between a linear economy and a circular economy. While the linear model follows a ‘use and discard’ approach, the circular economy aims at reducing waste by reusing, repairing, and recycling materials. This concept was presented in a relatable manner, helping students understand how small changes can lead to big environmental impacts.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating, asking thoughtful questions, and sharing their ideas. An interactive quiz kept the students engaged during the session. Towards the end, all participants took a meaningful pledge to adopt eco-friendly habits and contribute to a cleaner, greener planet. The workshop was educational and encouraged awareness and responsibility among the students.
