A virtual professional development session titled “Exploring Economics” was conducted on 21 November, 25 for Economics teachers of Classes XI and XII. The session was led by the distinguished resource persons Ms.Yogita Mittal and Ms. Vani Arora, who brought valuable classroom insights and subject expertise to the discussion.
The Key Highlights of the session were
Syllabus and Curriculum Mapping : The primary objective of the session was to strengthen teachers’ understanding of effective Economics pedagogy while aligning teaching practices with CBSE expectations. The session began with a detailed discussion on Syllabus and Curriculum Mapping, emphasizing logical sequencing of topics and alignment with learning outcomes to ensure conceptual clarity among students.
Board Paper Analysis and Preparation Techniques : A significant focus was placed on Board Paper Analysis and Preparation Techniques, where recent board paper trends were analysed. The speakers highlighted the balanced nature of questions, growing emphasis on competency-based and application-oriented questions, and strategies to prepare students accordingly. Common Student Errors were discussed in depth, along with practical remediation strategies to address conceptual gaps and improve answer presentation.
Internal Assessment and Rubric-Based Evaluation: The resource persons shared innovative methods for simplifying challenging chapters using mind maps, flowcharts, classroom activities, timelines, and visual tools, making abstract concepts more relatable and engaging. The importance of Internal Assessment and Rubric-Based Evaluation was highlighted to ensure objectivity, transparency, and skill-based assessment.
Overall, it was a highly enriching and practice-oriented learning experience, and the resource persons shared valuable insights which can be easily replicated in any classroom environment.
