EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON DELHI

(September 14, 2026)

An educational visit was organized for the students of Grade XI to the newly established campus of the University of Southampton Delhi. The trip aimed to provide high school students with first-hand exposure to university-level academic research, global learning environments, and emerging industry trends across technology and management.

The experience kicked off with an exploratory tour of the university campus. Students walked through modern, interactive flat-floor lecture halls, collaborative study spaces, and specialized technical laboratories, gaining a clear sense of how university-level learning environments are structured.

Following the campus tour, the students gathered for a session with Mr. Amit Tyagi, Recruitment and Marketing Director at the University of Southampton Delhi. Mr. Tyagi welcomed the students and shared the broader vision behind bringing a top-ranked UK university campus to the Delhi NCR region. He outlined how the local branch maintains identical academic standards, degree accreditation, and global mobility options as its UK counterpart, while offering practical guidance on undergraduate entry requirements and essential skillsets for future global careers.

The program then transitioned into academic lectures, beginning with a session on next-generation computing and artificial intelligence delivered by Dr. Vaibhav Gandhi, Head of Computer Science. Dr. Gandhi introduced students to Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) and assistive robotics, explaining how neural signals can interface directly with robotic systems to assist individuals with physical disabilities. He further explored practical applications of deep learning, biomedical signal processing, and quantum-inspired computational models, encouraging students to focus on cross-disciplinary problem-solving and human-centered technology.

The visit concluded with a presentation by Dr. Shumank Deep, Assistant Professor in Operations Management, who focused on operations, supply chains, and Industry 4.0. Dr. Deep introduced the concept of digital twins—virtual replicas of physical systems used to optimize complex business workflows. Using real-world corporate examples alongside tools like Power BI and Primavera, he illustrated how data analytics and supply chain resilience enable global organizations to navigate disruptions and maintain operational agility. The interactive Q&A that followed gave students a chance to ask questions directly, concluding a day that effectively connected high school learning with real-world applications in technology and business.
