WORKSHOP - DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION & ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

Mrs. Srishti Bajaj conducted an insightful workshop at G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurugram, for all the teachers of Junior Wing focusing on Differentiated Instruction and Enrichment Activities. The workshop emphasized creating a conducive learning environment through tailored education methods and positive behavior management strategies.
Key Points Covered were Expectations and Accountability for students regarding effort and behavior, with gentle corrections to be made consistently, Differentiated Instruction, Enrichment Activities, Classroom Implementation followed by Presentations by the teachers.
During the workshop, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) was discussed to establish a positive student culture and individualized behavior supports. Strategies such as learning stations, flexible small groups, and time modifications were highlighted to cater to diverse learning styles and needs. Scaffolding and tiered instruction, task lists, rubrics, and choices were emphasized as effective tools to personalize learning. Enrichment activities were presented as integral parts of the curriculum, related to concepts and themes within.
Examples of reading enrichment activities were provided, aiming to engage students in language arts in novel ways and foster productive thinking.
The importance of implementing classroom rules immediately and consistently was emphaised, with constant feedback on good behavior. Teachers were encouraged to incorporate differentiated instruction and enrichment activities into their lesson plans based on students' needs and interests.
Following the workshop, teachers presented lesson plans based on Bloom's Taxonomy, demonstrating their understanding and application of differentiated instruction principles. Presentations were made in groups, showcasing collaborative efforts towards effective teaching strategies.
The workshop provided valuable insights into differentiated instruction and enrichment activities, empowering teachers to create inclusive learning environments that cater to diverse student needs. The follow-up presentations by teachers reflected a commitment to implementing these strategies in classroom practice, ultimately enhancing student engagement and comprehension.
