SESSION - WATER CONSERVATION
(MAY 08, 2024)
“Conserve the flow, let the future grow, from rivers to taps, let’s bridge the water gaps, Let’s not wait, conserve water before it’s too late.”
With the aim to create awareness about the importance of water conservation and providing practical tips and strategies to conserve water in daily life, an informative and interactive session was organised by an International organisation called ‘WaterAid’. This non- profit organisation was established in the year 1986 and since then it has been working to transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people by improving access to water, sanitation and hygiene facility.
The session was headed by Mr Vivek who made the students aware of the significance of water conservation in sustainable development. He shared practical tips and strategies for reducing water consumption in households and public spaces. The workshop commenced with an overview of the global water crisis and its implications for both people and the planet. The Goenkans of grade VI- IX were introduced to key concepts such as water scarcity, water stress, water replenishment and the importance of preserving freshwater ecosystems. The students learned about simple yet effective measures they could implement in their daily lives to reduce water waste, such as fixing leaky faucets, installing water-saving devices, and practising water-efficient gardening techniques.
Throughout the workshop, Goenkans were encouraged to share their own experiences and ideas for water conservation, fostering a collaborative and interactive learning environment. The session concluded with a call to action, urging participants to commit to implementing water-saving practices in their homes, school and communities.
