LEADERSHIP CAMP

(JULY 20, 2024)

The leadership camp organised at GDGPS, Sec-48, Gurugram for all the members of student council marked by insightful sessions and active participation from students, was a resounding success. The event commenced with the launch of the student and teacher leader handbook, setting the tone for a day focused on learning and growth.

The Key Highlight of the camp was the workshop on “Design Thinking” conducted my Deepti Sawhney, CEO & Founder of Mahattattva, an educator par excellence. Ms. Deepti has been recognised across the globe, winning the Microsoft Innovative Teachers’ Leadership Award, at Seoul in 2005. Her project “Design Thinking for Social Change” has been made into a case-study by the University of Pennsylvania, USA. In March 2019, she was awarded the prestigious BETT Asia Leadership Award at Kuala Lumpur for her contribution towards technology integration in K12 classrooms across India. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Educational Technology and as the CEO of Mahattattva works closely with Google India on NCERT and CBSE projects for teacher training.

She led an engaging workshop on design thinking and its pivotal role in leadership. Students enthusiastically participated in hands-on activities, creating prototypes to tackle various challenges and issues. They also participated in gallery walk, where they had the opportunity to review and provide constructive feedback on each other's prototypes and solutions. This peer-review process promoted collaboration and a deeper understanding of different approaches to problem-solving. Each group finally demonstrated ownership of their projects through engaging presentations. This experience built lot of confidence in the students.

The other part of the workshop was led by Middle wing headmistress – Ms. Shalini Tandon. She conducted a dynamic one-hour session on “Leadership an Opportunity”. She sparked critical thinking among students, emphasizing the essential traits of effective leadership.

Overall, the camp provided a platform for students to enhance their leadership skills through practical activities and insightful guidance from industry experts. The event was a testament to the commitment towards nurturing future leaders.
