WORKSHOP- CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IN VIRTUAL TRAINING

(JUNE 18-21, 2020)

Xperiential Learning Schools organised a ‘Certificate Program In Virtual Learning’ - a practical Hands on training program to enable teachers to master the art and science of Virtual Teaching and Learning.

This immersive, online program consists of a series of 4 modules delivered through a combination of synchronous sessions and asynchronous tasks over a span of 4 days from 18th June to 21st June. Around 750 teachers and coordinators from various schools of India participated in the workshop. This intensive program aimed to prepare participants/teachers to leverage relevant research, voices from master teachers/experts in the field, design and facilitate online learning experiences using several Educational technology tools and best practices from around the world contextualized to India.

Payel Dutta Gupta -Head of Curriculum Design at XLS; Noora Fatima Noushad-Head, Design & Technology at XLS from The University of Pennsylvania where she holds an M.S.Ed in Learning Sciences and Technology were the facilitators.

Preparing for the Shift; Key Questions which were answered:

1. Why is online learning important?

2. What does latest research say about effectiveness of teaching online?

3. What is my readiness for online classes?

4. Do I know what technology will support me?

Learning Objectives of the session were:

1. Know about the importance of continuity of learning.

2. Examine the importance of technology in the current scenario and explore the relevance to my teaching practice.

3. Learn about my readiness with regards to Hardware & Software requirements.

4. Examine use of open and institutionally supported technologies.

5. Define Synchronous and Asynchronous sessions.

6. Know what tools to use for Synchronous sessions.

7. Know what tools support Asynchronous tasks.

They also focussed on ‘The SAMR model’ which lays out four tiers of online learning, presented roughly in order of their sophistication and transformative power: substitution, augmentation, modification, and redefinition. The session ended with Q&A session followed by feedback from the participants.
