PISA WORKSHOP

(DECEMBER 19, 2020)

The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) workshop was conducted under the aegis of GPSC by the Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurgaon under the guidance of its School Principal, Ms. Arti Chopra. PISA measures 15-year-olds' ability to use their reading, mathematics and science knowledge and skills to meet real-life challenges. The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a triennial international survey which aims to evaluate education systems worldwide by testing the skills and knowledge of 15-year-old students who are nearing the end of their compulsory education.

The workshop was mainly to help the CBSE affiliated schools to become ready for the PISA related assessments and to familiarise the teachers with the type of questions, which test the reading, mathematical and the scientific ability of the students. It covers cross curriculum competencies in terms of MCQs, short answers and long answer questions, in terms of interpretation of facts, integration of facts, judgement versus opinion.  The test exhaustively tests the ability of the students to use their reading, mathematics and science knowledge and skills to meet real-life challenges.

The participating teachers were made aware of the typology of questions in all the three disciplines and were made to participate actively in the workshop by answering the actual questions posed in the test. The participants were awarded an e-certificate too.
