HANDS ON TRAINING SESSION –MATH & SCIENCE TEACHERS

A workshop was conducted as a prelude to the Annual GPSC Conference for Science and Mathematics Teachers on Feb 07, 2020 at DAV Public School, Sec 14, Gurugram. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Manish Jain, who heads the Centre for Creative Learning at IIT Gandhinagar, which aims to provide an ideal space and environment to learn and understand concepts joyously.

Mr. Manish Jain is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, has a passion for Science and spends all his energies to make education engaging and experiential. From GDGPS Sector 48, Gurgaon, two teachers Ms. Mansi Babrah and Ms. Tanya Gera attended the workshop.

The resource person introduced the workshop by citing real life inspirational stories to motivate the participants to bring innovative teaching methods in their classrooms. It also included many STEM activities which could help the teachers to make teaching-learning process more effective. The teachers also participated in hands on activities based on Conic Sections, Bernoulli’s principle, Platonic Solids, Flute, Pendulums. He also displayed a STEM BOX which included more than 200 activities and concept based toys.

The experience was enjoyable. It gave an insight into various methods of learning different concepts of Science and Mathematics. It was a very enriching workshop, and we had a lot to take away from it. It will definitely help make teaching of Science and Mathematics more effective.
