CBSE WEBINAR MINDFULNESS (NOVEMBER 24, 2020)

“Mindfulness is a way of befriending ourselves and our experience”

An online session on MINDFULNESS was organised by the COE Delhi (East) on 24 November 2020 through Google Meet. The resource person was Ms Anuradha Handa, Principal of G D Goenka Public School, Sector 48, Gurgaon. The session was attended by educators and teachers from across all schools of Delhi and NCR.

Ms Handa spoke eloquently on the need to focus on our minds and remain in the moment while performing all tasks, no matter how small or inconsequential they may be. She spoke at length about the levels our minds can attain. We, as ordinary humans, must strive to attain a super conscious mind in order to exert a positive influence on the people and the environment around us. Attaining such a consciousness will enable us to judge wisely and independently. A weak consciousness will leave us open to unhealthy influences and exploitation. She went on to speak about the ultimate elevated state of mind, ‘Prana’, which allows us to live life unaffected by the things around us. Ms Handa enumerated purity, trust and flexibility among the many facets of being mindful.

Ms Handa emphasised that mindfulness was the act of a conscious mind. One must make a decision to be mindful of the things one does each day. She encouraged listeners to begin the day by thanking the Almighty and trying to spend at least some time in the day outdoors, communing with nature. She mentioned the act of relaxed reading as another way of being mindful. The tasks of eating and cooking which most us do hurriedly must also be done in ease with mindfulness. While multitasking has become a part of life for each one of us, Ms Handa exhorted her audience to not indulge too much in it.

The session was informative and interactive with lively interactions between the resource person and the attendees.
